Hard to believe considering how much helpful technology we have in modern cars today!

According to a new survey carried out by YourParkingSpace.co.uk, one in five drivers in the UK confess to not being very good at parking.

These findings are hard to believe when you consider how much helpful technology we have in modern cars today, so it should be easier to park than ever before. Most new cars now come with front and rear parking sensors, yet motorists are still finding parking an issue.

As of 2022, reversing cameras are to be mandatory for new type approvals and in all existing models by 2024.

Of those taking part in the survey, 54% said other drivers were “generally bad at parking”, suggesting that a park-assist system when looking to drive a new car is a good option.

When park-assist first appeared as new modern day technology to help drivers, it was mainly used in high-end cars but nowadays, it’s a standard feature on most types of car such as the popular hatchback.

“It’s not unusual to see motorists struggle on a daily basis to park a car, including parallel parking or trying to squeeze into a tight space,” said Harrison Woods, YourParkingSpace.co.uk managing director, adding: “Unsurprisingly, our survey shows that many more people consider other drivers to be bad at parking compared to those admitting they find it a struggle.”

As well as having park-assist to help with parking, drivers can and often pre-book an empty space so that they don’t have to search for an available bay on the day, taking the stress out of having to park up.
