If it sells for this price it could be the most expensive new-generation Mini ever sold!

One of the nation’s favourite cars is the Mini Cooper and since its relaunch in 2001, the ‘new look’ old classic has turned into one of the UK’s most loved motors, even catching the eye of a number of celebrities, including Madonna.

The singer and actress bought her black Mini Cooper S back in 2002 when she lived in London with Guy Ritchie, her husband at the time.

The American icon even sang about her Mini in one of her hit singles that reached number two in the UK charts back in 2003. ‘American Life’ featured the line: ‘I drive my Mini Cooper, and I’m feeling super-duper, yo they tell me I’m a trooper, and you know I’m satisfied.’

And now that very same Mini Cooper S, which Madonna was photographed in on many occasions driving around London is up for sale – for a whopping £55k!

If it manages to sell for the asking price, it could make it the most expensive new-generation Mini ever.

Madonna's Mini Cooper S is up for sale and could fetch around £55k!

Madonna L Ciccone ordered the Mini Cooper S with a supercharged 1.6 litre petrol engine in October 2002 and it was registered to the Ciccone 1989 Trust.

It’s believed that all the workers at the Cowley plant in Oxford, where the Mini was built, were so excited about the order that some of them who assembled it signed the car before it left the factory, under the bonnet and inside the body shell.

Madonna, who turns 60 tomorrow, ordered her new Mini Cooper S in black with a myriad of optional extras, such as privacy glass, 17-inch S Spoke light alloy wheels and a roof spoiler.

The Mini Cooper S was kept for four years by Madonna before it was sold to one of her personal drivers, who placed it in storage.

It has hardly been used since and has a very low mileage of 25,000 with only two registered keepers on the log book.

The car then appeared in the Historics at Brookland auction on 20 August 2016 with a guide price of £6,000 to £9,000 but ended up smashing the estimate and sold for a whopping £22,400.

Now its current owner, who’s believed to be a specialist car collector in Chelsea, has listed the Mini Cooper S with a price more than double what it sold for just two years previous.

There aren’t many Cooper S models similar to this one with a low mileage for sale today, with HPI valuing it at £2,876 if sold by a dealer, or £2,315 if sold by a private individual – but just because this black Mini Cooper S was once owned by Madonna and sung about in one of her hit records around 15 years ago, its perceived value has increased by £52,124 or 1,800%!

It’ll be interesting to see if the asking price is reached and records broken in the week when the iconic singer and actress celebrates her 60th birthday.
