The new limited edition MINI 1499 GT is a throwback to the original 1275 GT


MINI have launched a new limited edition model which will be a version of the MINI hatch named the 1499 GT.

In keeping with its name, just 1,499 examples of the new MINI will be built and the limited edition model is available to order now, priced from £16,990.

The special edition MINI is basically the new MINI 1275 GT for today’s motorists – the original was introduced back in 1969.

The MINI 1499 GT will be available from this November up until February 2018 and for sale in the UK only.

The limited edition model is based on the standard MINI but does include features taken from the John Cooper Works model, such as dark tinted rear windows, 17-inch Track Spoke black alloy wheels and the JCW’s unique bodykit.

The special edition MINI is powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 102bhp and the company claims it gives 0-60mph in 10.1 seconds.

The MINI 1499 GT also gets the JCW treatment inside as well as outside – sports seats with perforated black leather trims & red stitching and a JCW steering wheel.

The special edition MINI 1499 GT will be available in two colours, pepper white or midnight black. On the black version its body decals will be in gold like the original 1275 GT, whilst white models will have black graphics.

Equipment wise, the special edition MINI features cruise control, air conditioning, steering wheel controls, a Visual Boost sound system and MINI Connected smartphone compatibility (suitable for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay).
