Confirmation announced one week ahead of the Geneva Motor Show where it sets to make its debut

Toyota have today confirmed that the all-new Auris will be manufactured in the UK at their plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire, whilst the engines will be built in Deeside, North Wales as part of the companies £240m investment which was announced last March that will see the Burnaston plant upgraded.

It’s at the Burnaston plant where the previous Auris was manufactured but Brexit uncertainty had caused some concern over whether production would be taken from the UK and moved somewhere else. Currently there are 3,000 employees working at the two Toyota plants here in the UK, so the news will be welcomed by the workers.

“As a company, we are doing what we can to secure the competitiveness of our UK operations as a leading manufacturing centre for our European business,” said president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe Dr. Johan van Zyl following the decision.

The Geneva Motor Show kicks off next week and the all-new Auris is set to make its first public debut at the annual event.

A teaser image of the third-generation Auris has been doing the rounds and looks to feature a ‘more dynamic exterior design’, plus Toyota have also confirmed that the all-new Auris will profit from a new 2.0-litre full hybrid powertrain.

As for now, the rest is officially a closely guarded secret, however what can be confirmed is that the all-new Auris will be based on Toyota’s new TNGA platform, which includes the C-HR crossover and the Prius.

Spy shots revealed that the interior looks to have gone through a dramatic overhaul, as a wireless smartphone charging dock has been spotted, as well as an updated climate control set-up on the dashboard.

What is uncertain however, is whether the all-new Auris will be available with a diesel engine; in 2016 when the C-HR crossover was launched it arrived without a diesel option.
