The new VW was launched last week in Berlin – new design, tech, specs and prices were all revealed
An official event was held last week in Berlin where the sixth-generation Volkswagen Polo for 2017 was unveiled via live-stream on their website.
VW revealed their new line-up of cars, including a GTi and gas-powered versions.
In Germany, the new VW Polo will cost €12,975.
The new Polo will only be available as a five-door hatchback with a choice of up to six engines for buyers.
The GTi version will be powered by a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine, boasting 200bph.
It will also be the first time that a VW Polo has been available with a TGi natural gas engine generating 90bhp.
The new Polo will be the largest ever made at 4,053mm long with a longer wheelbase, which VW says will improve the comfort and ride overall.
The new Polo 2017 also looks different to its predecessor thanks to new LED lighting signature and brand new headlamp styling, as well as a redesigned bumper and a new elongated bonnet.
The capacity of the boot has also increased by 25% to 351 litres and new driver assistance systems now feature in the new Polo, including Blind Spot Detection, Front Assist and ACC & LED headlights.
The new Polo 2017 will be available in six different trim-lines, including their base version Trendline, alongside Comfortline, Highline, GTi, R-Line and Beats.
The Trendline will start from around €12,975.
Of all the new versions, the GTi is possibly the most anticipated – it comes with special sporty features, includes the red stripe on the radiator grille and has 17-inch alloy wheels.
The new Polo 2017 will also feature Keyless Access systems and Wireless smartphone charging.
Since 1975, more than 14 million VW Polo’s have been sold around the world, making it their second best selling model and a market leader in China and western Europe. The Volkswagen Golf is the company’s best selling model, which has been in production since 1974.
