Mini celebrates the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a one-off special

Mini have decided to celebrate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this May with a one-off special car.

The couple’s big day takes place on 19 May and to commemorate the wedding Mini have created a special Hatch which will be auctioned off publicly after the royal event to raise money for The Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA) – one of Harry and Meghan’s chosen charities.

Mini head of design, Oliver Heilmer, wanted to “mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift” and what better way to celebrate as the Mini is truly an iconic British brand with nearly 60 years of history in the UK.

Some of the standout features appearing on this one-off special Mini are the bespoke roof graphics, as well as interior and exterior trim details which have been 3-D printed and personalised.

The car also features special embroidery, making extra sure that this Mini does stand out as a genuine one-off.

A right royal Mini affair!

Maybe a couple of features do border on the cheesy side such as the ‘M hearts H’ and the puddle light which shines when the door is opened and projects ‘Just Married’ onto the ground but luckily they can be removed and taken off it not to your taste.

The royal wedding Mini is painted in Crystal White and features a fine set of dark blue matt metallic alloys, plus the headlight surrounds are also finished in a blue/black clear coat tint, so too are the doorhandles and grille.

The best feature has to be the roof on this one-off special Mini, which features a hand-crafted bespoke design that twins the Union Jack and Stars & Stripes flags. It truly is a work of art and not simply a wrap, as the graphics were first applied by hand before being painted by hand over several layers.

However, the Union Jack tail laps aren’t just a feature made specifically for this one-off special, as they now appear on all new 2018 Mini Hatch and Convertible models.

As for the interior, all the special features inside are highlighted using satellite grey leather, which include Harry and Meghan’s name printed on the passenger side accent panel, on the panel behind the steering wheel and featured graphics incorporated into the door trim strips.

On one head restraint Mini have stitched an abstract Union Flag and on the other Stars & Stripes.

It might not be to everyone’s taste and not what you’d witness on an official royal wedding car but it’s a fun way to celebrate the big day and raises money for charity too.
