And the car taking top spot might surprise you!
A shock result in June saw the Ford Fiesta knocked off its top spot by the Volkswagen Golf. As for July, the Fiesta didn’t managed to take back its crown and more surprisingly, the VW Golf slipped back down to second place.
So what was the best selling car in July? It was the Ford Focus, with a grand total of 5,251 cars registered during the seventh month of the year, managing to knock the VW Golf from its top position, outselling it by a mere 15 units.
A new Ford Focus will arrive in 2018 which is expected to be lighter than the current model and said to contain a myriad of new technology.
So after a brief time sitting on top of the table in June, the Volkswagen Golf drops back down to second place in July, with a total of 5,236 cars registered during the month – making it the third most popular car this year.
Sitting third on the table is the Nissan Qashqai, with 4,640 units registered in July and now the UK’s best selling crossover. It’s been 10 years since the first Qashqai appeared on our streets and the second generation model has been given a new facelift, not to mention an improved interior and new equipment.
The car that lost its crown in June has still not managed to regain it back and in the process has dropped down to third on the table. The Ford Fiesta has been the victim of a model upgrade recently, which lead to buyers holding back in anticipation of a new look for 2017 – as a result, it might be back at the top of the table before the end of the year!
Two models appear in the top 5 for Volkswagen too, as the Polo sits in fifth place on the table. Despite the announcement of a sixth generation Polo arriving soon, the current model is still doing well, with 3,227 units registered in July.
